Nathan Seney, RA
Accomplished Designer, Builder and Idea Man.

As an architect with 10 years of design experience in both San Francisco and Seattle, a thorough knowledge of building materials and techniques,
and a professional, reliable manner with clients, I can be an excellent asset to your design team. I've designed and managed large and small projects including commercial interiors, tenant improvements, mixed-use developments, multifamily residential buildings, new single-family homes and residential remodels. I’ve successfully led design and construction teams from project conception to completion for both private and public clients.

More than 7 years of hands-on carpentry experience strongly informs my design aesthetic. My skills have developed through working with diverse structures: concrete tilt-up, multi-unit condominiums, wood-frame residences and commercial interiors, to name a few. I've formed and poured foundations, rough framed walls and roofs, sheathed and sided, insulated and wired, drywalled and mudded, tiled and painted, installed casework doors and set windows. I am a well-versed,well-equipped, skilled journeyman and project manager.

Putting both of these skill sets together, I seek to craft projects of unparalleled beauty and build-ability. Part of my design philosophy is a commitment to sourcing smart, environmentally sustainable materials whenever possible and staying involved with the progressive design community.

Thank you for taking the time to look at some of my work.

The main circulation corridor and lobby area are defined by the use of cork tile flooring and a single spine of delicate track lighting. The wall on one side is substantial in-situ brick with both new and existing fire rated opening punctuating it's length. The opposite side of the corridor is defined by a series of metal framed cloth panels hung from a track on the ceiling and able to slide from one end to the other and provide varying levels of enclosure and privacy. The panels also serve as a space for the creative expression of the group, a space where they can install fabric or paper panels as the mood strikes them.
6' tall book cases define the 'rooms' within the space, separating the lobby, conference, and office spaces while providing ample storage for source material, inspirations and supplies. The height provides visual separation without impeding the distribution of natural daylight from the spaces many skylights, the only natural light source aside from the windows at the far ends of the space.
The Pinup area is vital to the creative process of the M-Line in their development of marketing ideas. A glass panel wall separates the area from the rest of the office and a large blued steel panel with magnets allows them to pin up and discuss a variety of materials and media to hash out their design ideas. Careful planning of hte duct work kept the majority of the spare wood ceiling to remain exposed and the use of  a uni-strut system to support conduit for power and data distribution minimizes the impact on the brick walls and allows for future expansion and flexibility without high infrastructure costs.
